TENIFER® is a nitriding treatment in a salt bath, which generates a thick and homogeneous composite zone, so called because its structure is constituted by chemical composites formed by the reaction between Iron, Nitrogen and Carbon.
Why using it:
Anti-seize
The intermetallic composite zone produces an excellent anti-friction layer, which enables the sliding of the stages stele against steel.
Superficial hardness
Thickness of composite zone is 0.25:0,3 mm with a mediuum hardness of 570 HV, against 180 HV of the standard steel. It is particularly resistant to dirt, rock dust, stones, etc..
Resistance to wear and fatigue
The TENIFER® treatment is well known for its running properties and for its resistance to wear and stress. It is mainly used in the automotive industry where the nitro-carburized components undergo more than 900 million of running cycles.
Resistance to oxidation
This thermal process, although not an anti-corrosion treatment, guarantees a minimum resistance to corrosion and oxidation compared to the same steel whitout treatment.
The world market share of nitrided parts in a salt bath is constantly increasing, thanks to their properties and quality.
Universal applications of the TENIFER® procedure:
– Power plants
– Aeronautics industry
– Automotive industry
– Agriculture industry
– Chemical industry
– Machinery and equipment
– Off-shore
– Hydraulics
– Tools and equipment
Di Natale – Bertelli SpA adopted the TENIFER process since the 1970s, and it is the only company in Italy and among the few in the world, to use saline nitriding for the production of telescopic cylinders.
The consolidated experience in the thermal process and the continuous internal research studies allowed the company to optimize and improve the surface quality of the stages, making them more resistant to the wear of the seizure.
The TENIFER treatment allows the sliding of steel on steel. It guarantees a high degree of solidity and it allows the cylinders to be constituted only by stages and seals, making maintenance practical and economical.
DNB cylinders advantages
